OREAS 254c was prepared from a blend of gold-bearing oxide ores and barren
materials (basaltic scoria, quartz and mudstone). The predominant oxide ore was
sourced from the Wilber Lode from the Andy Well Gold Project located
approximately 45km north of Meekatharra in the Murchison region of Western
Australia. The Wilber Lode is a shear- hosted, narrow vein, quartz lode-style
gold deposit situated within the Meekatharra-Wydgee greenstone belt in the
Archaean Yilgarn Craton of Western Australia. The Wilber Lode contains a common
primary mineral assemblage of quartz, calcite, chlorite, fuchsite, pyrite,
galena, sphalerite, chalcopyrite and gold. The host rock consists of a complex
sequence of weathered Archaean meta-basalt and meta-porphyritic rocks derived
from a primary mineralogy of albite, actinolite, chlorite, sericite, biotite,
calcite, zoisite, muscovite, quartz and titanate. A lesser quantity of gold
oxide ore from the Agate Creek Gold Project was also blended into OREAS 254c.
The Agate Creek Gold project is located in the Etheridge Goldfield of northern
Queensland, Australia. The project is hosted within a metamorphosed turbidite
sequence of interbedded sandstones, siltstones and shales. Epithermal and meso
thermal gold mineralisation occurs within quartz veining, stockworks and
breccias associated with Permian felsic volcanic units and Proterozoic
batholith. Thirty-three commercial analytical laboratories participated in the
program to certify:
Gold by fire assay;
Gold by 15-50g aqua regia digestion;
Gold by 5-200g cyanide leach;
Gold by PhotonAssay with recommended gross mass 470-500g;
Full ICP-OES and ICP-MS elemental suites by 4-acid digestion;
Full ICP-OES and ICP-MS elemental suites by aqua regia
digestion.
