OREAS 81
SKU: 81
OREAS 81 is a nickel sulphide Certified Reference Material prepared from a
combination of high-grade komatiite-hosted nickel sulphide ore, PGE-rich
ultramafic material, mafic gabbro, and gold-bearing epithermal ore. The primary
components of the blend include Xstrata Nickel’s high-grade sulphide ore from
the Leinster district (Western Australia), Mt Keith nickel feed material,
ultramafic–hosted PGE ore from the UG2 Reef (South Africa), and fresh gabbroic
rock sourced from the Black Hill intrusion (Western Australia). A small
proportion of high-grade gold ore from the Lihir operation (Papua New Guinea)
contributes additional trace-level Au variability representative of complex
multi-commodity geological environments.
OREAS 81 has been characterized using the following methods:
Lithium borate fusion with X-ray fluorescence
Full ICP-OES and ICP-MS elemental suites by 4-acid (HNO3-HF-HClO4-HCl)
digestion
Sodium peroxide fusion or lithium borate fusion with full ICP-OES and
ICP-MS suites
Sulphur by infrared combustion furnace
Certified values for applicable analytes are operationally defined for each
method, with results under OREAS ISO 17034 scope of
accreditation.
