OREAS 151c is a porphyry Cu-Au certified reference material prepared from a
blend of ores, barren granodiorite and a minor addition of molybdenum
concentrate. The ores were predominantly sourced from the Waisoi district, Viti
Levu, Fiji and this was blended with lesser quantities of other porphyry ores
from Chile and Australia. Copper mineralisation in the Namosi district is
accompanied by stockwork quartz veinlets and is characterised by
bornite-chalcopyrite-pyrite assemblages formed under a high sulphidation
environment. The barren granodiorite was sourced from the mafic, S-Type, Late
Devonian Bulla Granodiorite complex located in northern Melbourne, Australia.
Thirty-one commercial analytical laboratories participated in the program to
certify the elements reported below.
Gold by fire assay (15-50g charge weight) with ICP-OES, ICP-MS or
AAS finish
Gold by aqua regia digestion (10-50g sample weight) with ICP-OES,
ICP-MS or AAS finish
Full ICP-OES and ICP-MS elemental suites by 4-acid (HNO3-HF-HClO4-HCl)
digestion
Full ICP-OES and ICP-MS elemental suites by aqua regia digestion
Instrumental neutron activation analysis for Au on 20 x 85mg subsamples was
also undertaken at ANSTO, Lucas Heights to confirm
homogeneity.
