Description
Greenstone (ophiolite)
The material consists of greenstone (ophiolite) rock sourced from an operating (Lake Cooper) quarry located approx. 150 km north of the city of Melbourne (Victoria). This greyish-green Cambrian aged rock forms part of the Heathcote Greenstone Belt. The mineralogy consists mainly of albite plagioclase (31 %), chlorite (16 %), augite clinopyroxene (13 %) and quartz (10 %) with minor epidote, calcic amphibole, magnetite, calcite, dolomite, vermiculite and kaolinite.
AC18.10658 is available as 50 g units packed into glass, wide-mouth jars.
